POSITION: REGION LEAD (KATAZA–PROJECT)

MVend Ltd is a Financial Technology (FinTech) solutions and services provider with over 10 years of experience in payments integration across the East African region. Incorporated in Rwanda in 2013, MVend has been at the forefront of enabling digital payments by building and integrating payment solutions for businesses with various payment service providers.

At MVend, we are particularly dedicated to empowering youth and women,

especially those in savings groups, by providing a platform that records their credit histories, facilitating access to loans from financial institutions. We are the developers of the Gwiza

Application, which enables savings groups to conduct transactions via mobile phones.

MVend Ltd is also a key member of a consortium led by the Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD) and supported by the Mastercard Foundation under

the “KATAZA Project.” Our role in this project is to support the digitization of savings groups, providing real-time access to their savings and loan records. This will lead to their access to financial services (saving, loans, insurance, etc.) provided by different financial service providers including SACCOs, MFIs, and Banks. Currently Mvend Ltd is operational through field teams in all 4 Provinces of Rwanda and can adapt its team size/coverage according to its partners` zone of operations.

MVEND Ltd seeks to hire a qualified, dedicated and experienced Rwandan national for the role of Region Lead (KATAZA–PROJECT), joining an established and experienced team. This position incorporates a range of skills and development in multiple areas, allowing for an exciting opportunity for career growth in a dynamic, global organization. This position will be based in Western Zone (Nyabihu and Rubavu Districts).

Purpose of the position:

The purpose of this position is to facilitate the implementation of KATAZA Project activities in Nyabihu and Rubavu Districts, ensuring that project operations are effective and sustainable in keeping with the standards of agreed MVEND ltd and the Donor requirements.

Planning and Financial Management:

Facilitate community engagements develop project plans (DIPs and budgets)

to

  • Community engagements done and priority needs identified and form the basis of the plans.
  • Plans have clear and realistic indicators, targets and budgets.

Project Execution

Facilitate effective implementation of the KATAZA Project through saving groups(VSLAs) onboarding in GWIZA App.

  • Project implemented according to plans (Activities, Targets and cash flow/budget).
  • Capacity building of Village Agents done in conjunction with the Project Manager.
  • Support VAs in VSLAs mobilization in joining GWIZA
  • Assist VA in Digitalizing saving groups into the Gwiza System;
  • Train groups on saving, borrowing, and other services using the Gwiza System.
  • Comply with Company policies for accurate and truthful data entry.
  • Address basic technical issues arising from the use of the Gwiza System App.
  • Internal and external reports done within agreed deadlines using MVEND ltd and donor formats with the Project Manager.

Partnering & Reporting

Facilitate and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including local government, community leaders, community-based organizations, and others to enhance cooperation and coordination.

  • Potential partners are identified in collaboration with MVEND Ltd leadership
  • Working relationship with stakeholders is healthy
  • District and other partners’ reports done on time through the zone
  • Develop and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to the PM

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

  • Should have at least 2 years experiences working in agriculture, livestock, Tourism and saving groups; Program start-up experience an advantage.

Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, livelihood sciences, Management, Social sciences or related field; Livelihood background in Development Facilitation

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate experience in capacity building, project design and budget management
  • Strong understanding of project programmatic direction Experience in working with saving groups and coordinating with the community and other stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills
  • Analytical and written skills, and proper computer skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Ability to multi-task, ability to handle pressure well, ability to improvise, flexibility, adaptability to transitions
  • Must be willing to spend long hours in the field
  • Must be between 18-35 years old
  • Motorcycle riding skill and having Driving license Cat A is a must.
